CPD4PHYSIO1004_Build Your Confidence in Disability Management

Overview

This course is designed to upskill physiotherapists to increase their confidence in working with people with a disability. There may be a range of content that is relevant to the wider allied health workforce.

This course consists of six self-paced modules which contain a mix of introductory recorded lectures, case study videos, interactive eLearning, and knowledge checks. Module 1 - introduction to NDIS must be completed first, then the other modules may be undertaken in any order. These must be completed to receive a Certificate of Attendance. References and links to any additional resources are provided for each module - these are optional.

This would be a valuable starting point for physiotherapists who may be interested in undertaking further learning in paediatric and/or disability physiotherapy.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of course, participants should be able to:

  • Outline specific considerations in the assessment, treatment and management of patients with a disability
  • Identify any 'red flags' or serious concerns that require referral to a general practitioner or other health professional
  • Outline the process for treating and billing NDIS participants
  • Identify relevant disability services in your local area
  • Identify opportunities to expand your physiotherapy practice to provide services to people with a disability
