Various cancer treatments induce cardiotoxic effects that increase CVD risk and can lead to heart failure. Exercise can be used to detect cardiac dysfunction and can be a useful therapy to addressing the reduced cardiac function. This presentation will explore cardiotoxicity and the role of exercise training in two cancer types: anthracycline treatment for breast cancer and myeloablative treatment in haematological cancer patients undergoing haematopoietic stem cell transplant. How to prescribe exercise during active treatment such as chemotherapy will also be discussed.
