About the group
The Aquatic group places a strong emphasis on education and professional standards. The group has developed several aquatic physiotherapy courses—Levels 1, 2 and 3—that are reviewed regularly to ensure best-practice learning outcomes. Courses are also run in collaboration with other APA national groups to broaden your clinical perspective.
In partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society Australia, the group offers an annual hydrotherapy rescue course across most states and territories and has developed comprehensive guidelines for working in hydrotherapy pools to support physiotherapists in maintaining safe, high-quality care.
There are many ways to contribute to the group's ongoing work—volunteer for a committee role, help design professional development opportunities, or engage in discussion and knowledge-sharing through PhysioHub.
Every two years, the APA conference scientific committee curates a high-quality program for each area of physiotherapy, including aquatic practice—offering another opportunity for members to help shape the profession.
