About the group
Renamed in 2016 to better reflect the breadth of this specialty, the Women's, Men's and Pelvic Health group is one of the APA's most active and progressive communities.
The group advocates for physiotherapists working in this area and promotes inclusive, evidence-based care of people of all genders experiencing pelvic health issues.
Members contribute to national advocacy and public awareness, including representation at Parliament House during World Continence Week, collaboration with the Continence Foundation of Australia and development of educational materials to raise the profile of physiotherapy in pelvic health.
The group's professional development calendar includes courses, lectures and joint events with other APA national groups, offering learning opportunities across areas such as:
- continence and bladder health
- pelvic floor muscle training
- pregnancy and postnatal care
- prostate and men's health
- pelvic health, sexual health and oncology-related conditions.
Members also have opportunities to influence the development of the APA's careers pathway and course frameworks for titling and specialisation, as well as to share research through lectures and publications.
Join the group to connect with leading clinicians, academics and researchers and to contribute to shaping the future of pelvic health physiotherapy through PhysioHub and national committee involvement.
Every two years, the APA conference scientific committee curates a program dedicated to pelvic health, offering another platform for members to lead discussion and innovation in this area.
